Project Overview

From 2023 to 2025 I worked with MSKCC's Chief Medical Information Officer and a product manager to developed 12 core technology concepts for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's new flagship hospital, opening in 2030.

Our experiential concepts will be present throughout the new building, defining core experiences for patients and staff, outlining workflows, and influenced construction blueprints and structural design of spaces.

I'm still working on this case study, but please reach out if you'd like to discuss this project or want more information.

My Role
This project required me to leverage various forms of design along with managing innovation workstreams with cross-functional teams of architects, clinicians, patients, and operational staff.

Our team of three included myself, the CMIO, and a product manager. We split duties and collaborated daily, while leaning on our specialties - mine being product and experience design.

What I did
Any given day was a mix of user/market research, blueprinting patient and staff journeys, presenting updates or concepts for feedback, designing interfaces, piloting products, and even using generative AI as a storytelling tool for executives and stakeholders.
Impact
Our work touched on everything from ambient displays which surface contextually relevant information to environments that adjust to the preferences of the occupant based on RTLS data.

I'll sum this all up in a soon-to-be case study - but the learnings were vast and I loved the chance to create helpful tools, peaceful moments, and a little something for people fighting the awfulness that is cancer.
